The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Budget and FinancialPlanning is responsible for supporting the financial planning& analysis activities, providing insight and strategic counselto university management and partnering closely with academic andadministrative units across the university. You will lead thedaily activities of our budget office, as well as lead a team of 6professionals (1 manager and 5 analysts). Partnering closelywith the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Budget and Planning tocoordinate the efforts of divisional budget managers across theuniversity as well as liaise with senior management in the creationof ad-hoc financial analysis and business models for criticalinitiatives. You will drive timely and accuratefinancial plans, forecasts, and reporting as well as providefinancial expertise, identify risks and opportunities, translateinsights into action plans and see plans through toexecution. We are seeking candidates who have strategic visionfor the position of AVP of Budget and Financial Planning tofundamentally transform the way we work and engage with our campuspartners.Your core responsibilitiesinclude:Maintain capital and operational forecasting schedules, assistin the preparation of pro-forma financials for various capitalprojects and university directives, and be responsible for thepreparation of annual budgets.Enhance the quality of insight generation through the use ofscenario planning, analytics and metrics including a robust forwardlooking modeling capacity to support university initiatives.Providing strategic leadership in advancing a premier financialplanning and analysis operation by applying best practices tocontinuously improve our existing processes and oversight andmanagement of planning and management reporting efforts.Working closely with key internal partners, particularlyacademic and administrative unit partners, to develop integratedand robust university budgets and forecasts.Providing insights to develop and implement technology andother solutions to meet critical timelines that support ourstrategic plan, multiyear financial plan, annual budgets, bi-annualforecast, quarterly/monthly reporting packets and related on-goinganalysis.Providing support to the CFO in developing presentationmaterials and financial analysis for various meetings, includingmeetings with: the Executive Management Team, Deans, Board ofTrustees, Finance Committee, rating agencies and other internal andexternal partners.Collaborating with campus partners to explore continuousoperational improvement opportunities related to the university’sbudget.Serving the units as a partner and resource to cross-functionalproject or coordinating teams.Planning, documenting, and managing the performance ofsubordinate managers and/or staff. Provides staff withprofessional or technical growth through assignment, mentoring, ortraining. Other duties as assigned.You must demonstrate:Strong financial and analytical skills and the ability toexplain financial concepts in lay terms across variedaudiences.Progressive thought leader in the finance function, asappropriate, including analyzing and providing relevant metrics andperformance indicators to help identify trends.Proven ability to build internal customer relationships andpartnerships.Ability to present complex concepts and/or financial models toa broad range of audiences.Ability to prioritize work and to handle multipleprojects/internal customers.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, businessadministration or a related discipline from an accredited collegeor university; Master’s degree preferred.Ten (10) years of financial planning and analysis andexperience with business intelligence systems is required.Advanced Microsoft Office skills.The University will welcome senior leaders from industriesoutside academia, whether public or private, such as professional& financial services, life sciences, multi-lateralorganizations and others.
