Love that they are moving away from the A logo and featuring the Z. I’ve stated before how using the first initial of a nickname is a pet peeve of mine so to me switching from the A to the Z is a massive downgrade. Members 1 Posted April 8, 2015 The worst part is that–at least from the picture–the court doesn’t capture the “blacktop” feel the school was looking was hoping to achieve. dgthree TCutt jch Does anyone know when Morehead State is supposed to announce their new court design? Posted May 15, 2015 Share this post New court design for UK at their Women’s arena. Looks like a new UK logo at mid court and the checkerboard pattern around the outside. I’m not opposed to the checkerboard, but as someone who grew up a UT fan (now an Auburn student), I don’t think they should be using the checkerboard this much. Since it has been a staple of Tennessee athletics for years and comes from one of the buildings on campus, and Nike decided to revive/give UK the checkerboard treatment in 2008, it just doesn’t seem right. It’s different. 0 2015-16 College hoops PackerFan98 Share on other sites It’s not ideal, but I don’t think it’ll put a dagger 29 Prev 0 2015-16 College hoops Posted May 15, 2015 Location:Wisconsin Share on other sites 86 posts All Activity Share on other sites 2015-16 College hoops 21 29 11,788 posts Share this post 973 Posted May 15, 2015 Link to post Billy B 0 22,252 posts Share on other sites 1,787 posts 116 0 Share this post 20 Forums Home Not sure if Oakland made some changes or the court just looks different with the polyurethane (assuming they use polyurethanes for courts) applied.center_img Share on other sites Members Members 172 Followers 2 SportsLogos.Net Page 1 of 22   Members 91 Shadojoker Location:256/334 Share this post Share on other sites This topic is now closed to further replies. 100 walkerws Share this post 91 100 Posted June 2, 2015 Link to post dgthree Next 20 First, on the Oakland court, it looks like something out of a middle school gym or a rec center. It’s not even like it’s made of wood, but more like some sort of soft padding. Anyways, with Akron, I’m with everyone else, I’d much rather them have an “A” logo instead of a “Z” logo, but I understand why they did it. There’s not a ton of “Z” teams out there. I do like the kangaroo in the lane though, it is unique and just different enough for me to like it. Could’ve been a lot worse.I’ve always liked the Z better. The A logo isn’t terrible, but most people don’t understand why their is a kangaroo (or as some say donkey/horse looking animal). It’s always felt a lot like a minor league baseball team or something. The Z is unique to college sports. Another happy accident with the Z is that it reads the same from both sides of the court. Similar to the suns center court wordmark.I could have been much worse…. Link to post Next 0 Sports Logo News 8,685 172 154 216 posts dgthree I find it annoying too. Especially when using the logo in place of a letter is the better choice. 0 Posted May 16, 2015 5 Posted May 18, 2015 Share this post Link to post 1 Link to post Recommended Posts “Sports Aesthetics” dgthree Members Members 0 5 450 10,452 posts 5 nuordr 116 Share this post The Z is rendered better so it’s a better choice. Seems like they’re creating unnecessary work for themselves if they have go back and refinish part of the court. 586 CitizenTino Share this post 0 PackerFan98 frosty06306 vmd9 Followers 2 Members 190 posts Share on other sites Posted May 18, 2015 450 100 MJWalker45 TCutt 5 Share on other sites Share on other sites 23 TCutt Members Members 5,026 21 8,685 Akron just repainted their court for next season:I could do without the kangaroo heads in the 3pt arc. For me, the checkerboards pattern may have been used by UT, Fresno State and Navy, but that doesn’t mean another team cannot use them. Besides UK’s purpose has nothing to do with college sports as it is based off of Secretariat’s silks. 973 Posted May 27, 2015 Sports Logo News 17,487 posts 450 962 posts altosax29b 21 Link to post Share this post 0 Billy B Sports Logos 0 2 20 Boyeeism 0 1 Location:Massillon, OH 3 Members First, on the Oakland court, it looks like something out of a middle school gym or a rec center.
